Torger Baland Registered Piano Technician attends and instructs at the Annual International Piano Institute

TUCSON, AZ. Torger Baland RPT*, of Roberts, WI attended and served as an instructor for two classes at the Piano Technicians Guild Annual Convention and Technical Institute.
There were more than 600 attendees, including piano service specialists, manufacturers and suppliers from around the world,
“This year we had more than 60 first-time attendees,” said newly elected PTG President Paul Adams, RPT*. “The J.W. Marriott Starr Pass Resort was a magnificent setting for learning, as well as relaxing.”
Education was the focus of the event with four days of classes covering all aspects of piano service as well as business and health and wellness classes. The exhibit hall, featuring more than 60 booths, offered attendees the chance to inspect new tools, play many different pianos and talk to industry representatives. Evening concerts and awards banquets were also a highlight.
“Each year, our Institute Directors craft a well-rounded program,” Adams said. “Everyone left energized and anxious to try out a new technique. Everyone knows that just one technological tip was worth the trip.”
This summer has been especially busy Torger and Family have moved to Roberts, WI but they will continue to work in the Twin Cities metro.

Lancaster, PA. Torger Baland RPT*, of Saint Paul, MN was among more than 600 attendees and a year after earning Registered Piano technician served as an instructor at the 61st annual Piano Technicians Guild Convention and Technical Institute.
The event was attended by piano service specialists, manufacturers and suppliers from around the world.
“The PTG Convention is the world’s largest gathering of piano technicians,” said PTG President Paul Brown, RPT. “The people who come to this event know this is the place to come to challenge yourself with long days of learning from the best technicians in the business.”

Baland completed the last of a series of three exhaustive examinations covering all aspects of piano technology during tn the National Convention in Saint Louis, MO, 7/12/17. The examination process includes a written test covering general knowledge of pianos and piano technology; a technical examination, which includes action regulation and adjustment; and a standardized tuning examination. Approximately 2,100 piano technicians in the United States and Canada are RPTs. Baland has been a piano technician since 2005 and is an active member of the Twin Cities Chapter of the of the Piano Technicians Guild.

ST. LOUIS, MO. Torger Baland, RPT*, of Saint Paul, MN was among more than 700 attendees, including piano service specialists, manufacturers and suppliers from around the world, who attended the Piano Technicians Guild Annual Convention and Technical Institute.
This year’s event was highlighted by two special milestones; the celebration of the 60th anniversary of the creation of the Piano Technicians Guild and the hosting of the International Association of Piano Builders and Technicians as part of the week-long event.
“I am constantly amazed by the level of talent that is present at these events,” said newly elected PTG President Paul Brown, RPT. “The incredible coming together of this worldwide community to learn and share means so much. You could sense a feeling of camaraderie and inspiration on the faces of attendees as they left for home.”
